Who is Zen Gray?

Hi, I'm Zen. As an ACE Certified Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor, I've spent over twenty years helping thousands of people get fit around the country: from showcasing my coaching talents on Season One and Season Two of WORKOUT -- Bravo TV's docu-drama about the lives of personal trainers, to writing and hosting The Skinny -- amusing and easy health tips for the newbie exerciser on ExerciseTV (Time Warner's online and video-on-demand exercise site), to teaching hundreds of conditioning classes from my hometown Chicago to Los Angeles.
My blog, Love and Fat, discusses the relationship between love and body weight, personal struggles and triumphs in the quest for a healthier and happier life, and suggestions on how to keep the love… but lose the love handles.
For years, I simultaneously worked in sales as well as fitness so I can relate to the diet and exercise pitfalls of working in corporate America. My Bachelor's degree in advertising helped me to develop a quick, easy and memorable style of delivering helpful information in an entertaining manner.... much like your favorite Superbowl commercials.
It’s no coincidence that I enjoy motivating my clients with playful routines and humor as I've also performed stand-up comedy for over ten years (seen here at the Laugh Factory in Hollywood) and frequently study techniques from the masters of motivation like Tony Robbins.
With a healthy respect for Western Medicine, I encourage people to take control of their own health through holistic choices and to explore lifestyle changes to include unprocessed and organic foods as well as natural remedies. I'm a huge fan of nutritional medicine and devour the latest studies in diet choices that help people lose weight.

I like to teach others to stay curious about their limits and to push through their comfort zones.
In sticking with that philosophy, I've raced two triathlons, ran my first marathon last December, and walked across 14-feet of hot coals... twice.

What will your workouts be like?
Creative cardio - interval workouts with varying intensity so you burn more calories during your session.
Resistance training - using your own body weight, free weights, bands, cables, medicine balls, or other types of resistance to sculpt your body into the hot and healthy physique you deserve.
Stretching - At the end of your workout, I will take you through a rewarding stretch which not only helps recovery, but helps prevent injuries and reduce stress. Assisted stretching is heaven!
Personable - enjoying your sessions is a top priority. While I'm making sure that your form is perfect and your workouts are tough, we can chat about whatever you like... the latest weight-loss studies, secret celebrity fitness tips, personal goals, your love life, how to triumph over your vices... whatever helps YOU!
